A devastating incident occurred in Dhaka’s Siddheshwari area as Dipanwita Biswas Dipu Sana, a 37-year-old assistant director of Bangladesh Bank, tragically lost her life after being struck by a falling brick chip from a nearby building on Wednesday night.
Dipanwita, a resident of Satkhira district and the wife of Arun Kumar Bishwas, was on her way home from the Bangladesh Bank’s Sadarghat office when the unfortunate event took place. After alighting from a bus in the Shantinagar vicinity, she was walking towards her residence in Moghbazar when the incident occurred around 8:30 pm near Fakhruddin restaurant.
Amena Khanom, a sub-inspector from Ramna Model police station, verified the incident. According to her husband, Arun Kumar, Dipanwita sustained severe head injuries due to the brick chips that fell from an unspecified building. Despite being rushed to Dr. Sirajul Islam Medical College Hospital by locals, she was declared dead upon arrival.
The local authorities are actively investigating the incident to determine the cause and take necessary actions.
