Effective immediately, mobile internet users can now utilize all of their unused data if they renew or repurchase the same package before its expiration. The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has recently removed the previous limit on carrying forward unused data into the same package, which was previously capped at 50 GB.
The updated ‘Guidelines for Data and Data Packages of Mobile Phone Operators-2023’ by the BTRC eliminates this restriction. Customers are now allowed to retain and use all their unused data, regardless of the amount, according to Brigadier General Mohammad Khalil-ur-Rahman, Director-General for the System and Services Department of the BTRC, as reported by The Daily Star.
This change follows a previous directive on September 3, where the BTRC instructed mobile operators to discontinue three-day and 15-day data packages starting from October 15. At that time, the carry-forward limit of over 50 GB of unused data for the purchase of the same data packages was also lifted.
Additionally, mobile operators have been directed to reduce the total number of packages offered to subscribers from 95 to 40.
