According to Wahedul Islam, deputy director of Fire Service and Civil Defence in Rajshahi, nine firefighting units were working to bring the blaze under control around 7:45 pm. As of that time, no casualties had been reported. The fire originated from an unauthorized kitchen near the market entrance, and the exact cause was not immediately known.
Rajshahi City Corporation’s Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Police Commissioner Biplob Bijoy Talukder, along with senior officials, visited the scene. Several years ago, the RDA market was deemed extremely susceptible to fires due to its densely populated shops, limiting the circulation of air and water within the market.
