Recent research, led by Professor Patrick Irwin, challenges traditional perceptions of Neptune and Uranus’ colors, revealing that both planets share a similar shade of greenish-blue.
Utilizing modern telescopic data to rectify historical color inaccuracies, the study also explains minor color variations in Uranus over its orbit. While Neptune is often described as a rich blue and Uranus as green, the new findings demonstrate a closer resemblance in their colors than conventionally believed.
The accurate shades of these ice giants were confirmed through the research conducted at the University of Oxford and published in the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.
The study dispels the widely held notion that Neptune is a deep azure and Uranus has a pale cyan appearance.
