Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are set to return to India’s T20I squad for the first time since the conclusion of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, marking a significant development for the team ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled a 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan. Rohit Sharma will lead the side, with Jitesh Sharma and Sanju Samson serving as the designated wicket-keepers. The squad boasts several all-round options, including Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, and Axar Patel. Leg-spinners Ravi Bishnoi and Kuldeep Yadav have been included, while the pace department will be managed by Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, and Mukesh Kumar.
The batting lineup also features Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Tilak Varma.
The three-match T20I series is scheduled to commence on January 11, 2024.
