Between 6:00 pm on January 5 and 10:00 am on January 6, spanning 16 hours, the Fire Service and Civil Defence received reports of 14 arson incidents attributed to disorderly individuals across the country, as stated in a government agency’s announcement on Saturday, January 6.
The statement disclosed that during these incidents, six vehicles and nine structures were set ablaze, including a Buddhist temple and eight educational institutions. Tragically, four individuals lost their lives in these fire-related events.
According to the fire service, one incident occurred in Dhaka city, while four were reported in the Dhaka division (one in Narayanganj, two in Gazipur, and one in Kaliakair). Additionally, two incidents were reported in the Sylhet Division, four in the Chattogram Division, and three in the Mymensingh Division.
A collective effort involving 32 firefighting units and 151 personnel was mobilized to extinguish the flames.
