In preparation for the upcoming 12th parliamentary election scheduled for January 7, authorities have announced the allowance of public transport, private vehicles, and CNG-operated auto-rickshaws to operate on voting day. This decision aims to facilitate voter mobility and participation in the national polls.
Mustafizur Rahman, Senior Secretary of the Public Security Division, conveyed this directive during a training session for executive magistrates held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on Tuesday. Rahman clarified that while motorcycles and long-distance buses would remain restricted as in previous elections, specific guidelines from the concerned ministry would follow shortly.
Emphasizing vigilance among executive magistrates, Rahman cautioned against acting solely based on unverified information or rumors circulating on voting day. He stressed the importance of cross-referencing details before taking any decisive actions, highlighting the establishment of coordination cells at both central and district levels to facilitate informed decision-making.
Furthermore, Rahman disclosed the availability of support from the Press Information Department (PID) and the National Telecommunication Monitoring Center (NTMC). These teams will remain operational around the clock, providing essential services to executive magistrates until January 10, ensuring smooth and secure election proceedings.
