In a distressing turn of events during the election campaign for Dhaka-2 constituency’s Awami League candidate, Advocate Qamrul Islam, two dedicated party activists fell victim to a violent attack by unidentified assailants in Kamrangirchar on Friday.
The injured individuals, identified as Tanvir, 26, and Shiva, 30, faced severe injuries and were promptly rushed to the renowned Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for urgent medical attention. Inspector Md Bachchu Mia, overseeing operations at the DMCH Police Outpost, verified the incident, emphasizing that both victims received immediate treatment upon arrival at the emergency ward.
Narrating the unfortunate incident, Tanvir’s brother-in-law, Masud Chowdhury, provided insights into the circumstances surrounding the attack. “While actively engaging in the election campaign to support our Awami League candidate, Advocate Qamrul Islam, Tanvir and Shiva encountered a sudden and violent assault by the miscreants, who swiftly fled the scene post the attack,” Chowdhury recounted.
As the nation gears up for the pivotal national polls slated for January 7, such incidents underscore the heightened tensions and security concerns surrounding the electoral process.
