In a significant operation, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) apprehended two individuals suspected of sabotage activities, seizing petrol bombs, improvised explosives, and related manufacturing equipment from Kadamtoli in Dhaka.
The arrested individuals, identified as 22-year-old Md Nayon and 23-year-old Md Alamin, are affiliated with the Chhatra Dal. According to RAB, these individuals produced and supplied volatile materials under the directives of local BNP and Jubo Dal leaders.
RAB’s elite team, RAB-10, conducted the arrest on Tuesday in Shyampur, Kadamtoli, as detailed in an official press release. The law enforcement agency highlighted that since October 28, BNP leaders and activists have orchestrated multiple acts of arson, targeting buses, trucks, ambulances, and other vehicles using the seized explosives. Additionally, they engaged in violent confrontations with law enforcement, resulting in injuries and the tragic demise of a police constable.
Expressing commitment to curbing such activities, RAB emphasized ongoing operations to apprehend other potential perpetrators. The seizure from Nayon and Alamin included 13 improvised explosive devices, 15 petrol bombs, gunpowder, glass powder, and various materials integral to explosive production.
Authorities have initiated legal proceedings against the detained individuals, ensuring thorough investigations and appropriate actions in alignment with the law.
