A tragic incident unfolded in Dhaka’s Khilkhet as a Toyota Land Cruiser plowed into individuals waiting at a bus stop, resulting in two fatalities, including an 8-year-old child, Yasin.
The deceased have been identified as Ujjol Pandey and young Yasin, while Yasin’s father, Md Sumon, along with an unidentified woman, sustained severe injuries during the Wednesday night mishap, as confirmed by local law enforcement.
Sheikh Aminul Bashar, overseeing Khilkhet Police Station, revealed that the Land Cruiser, displaying a Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh sticker, was privately owned and en route from the airport to Banani. Following the collision, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.
The aftermath of the accident left young Yasin trapped beneath the vehicle, with distressing visuals circulating across social media platforms. Providing further insights, Aminul indicated that the Land Cruiser collided with a road divider before striking the unsuspecting passengers.
Md Mafiz, Sumon’s father, shared that Sumon, a Mohammadpur resident employed as a security guard in Khilkhet, had accompanied his son Yasin to his workplace on that fateful evening. Meanwhile, Sabuj Kirtoniya, Ujjol’s brother-in-law, mentioned Ujjol’s origins from Gopalganj and his employment at a private enterprise in Natun Bazar.
Inspector Bachchu Mia from Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s police outpost confirmed Ujjol’s unfortunate demise upon arrival. Meanwhile, Sumon and the unidentified female victim continue to receive critical medical care at the hospital, emphasizing the gravity of the incident and its repercussions.
